Something to Think About

(BUT NOT TOO LONG!!)

Racing Greyhounds:

Racing Greyhounds can be as much fun and sport as racing Horses. There’s one major difference! COST!

You can buy, raise and train a racing Greyhound for about the same cost as just a very few months keeping a Race Horse at a Track.

A Greyhound can run up to two races each week, and costs you nothing while it’s at the track. A Race Horse generally only runs one or two races a month, and costs you $1500.00 per month while it’s at the track.

Hevener Farms has developed a plan whereby YOU can have the fun of owning a Racing Greyhound without the work involved in raising and training it. We currently have a VERY LIMITED number of newborn racing pups available for interested parties. Because these puppies are our future racing stock, we will sell only a very small number of them. These are puppies bred with excellent racing pedigrees, combining the best blood from the US, UK, Ireland and Australia. We will house them and raise them up to training age, giving them the best of diet and exercise all the way, plus basic training to ready them for the race track.

What are the costs involved in this plan?

  • 1. Purchase your puppy:
    • Female: $1700.00
    • Male: $2000.00
  • 2. Monthly Board:
    • $100.00 for the first 12 months
    • $130.00 after puppy is 1 year old.
  • 3. Finishing School (2-3 months):
    • Approximately $130.00 per month.
  • 4. Other Normal Expenses:
    • Veterinary costs (shots, etc.)
    • Owner Registration: $10.00 ($30.00 for non-NGA members)
    • Owner License Fee (depends on state, example: Florida $40.00 annually).
    • (Optional): Membership in National Greyhound Association (NGA)
    • Initiation Fee $100.00, Annual Fee $70.00
  • Transportation to Finishing School and to leasing kennel:
    • Varies, approximately $90.00 each way.
